GFS Chemicals® Receives Award for Excellencefrom Ohio Chemistry Technology Council (OCTC)

Columbus, OH, (May 21, 2026) – GFS Chemicals®, a leading manufacturer of fine and specialty chemicals, received an award for excellence from the Ohio Chemistry Technology Council (OCTC) at the association’s awards dinner held in conjunction with the association’s 37th Annual Conference in Columbus, OH. The conference is a leading gathering for Ohio’s chemistry industry.
The awards dinner, attended by members of OCTC and top Ohio-based chemists, scientists, and industry professionals in the chemical industry, recognizes member companies that have demonstrated exceptional performance in environmental stewardship, health, safety, and security. This year, 22 member companies were recognized with awards for excellence.
GFS Chemicals’ 2025 sustainability initiative focused on reducing energy consumption and modernizing facility infrastructure to improve operational efficiency while lowering the company’s overall environmental impact. The year-long initiative, overseen by the company’s Maintenance and Engineering Managers, included lighting and heating upgrades at multiple facilities on three separate campus locations. Twenty-year-old lighting fixtures were replaced with high-efficiency LED panels, high bay fixtures, vapor-proof LEDs, and exterior wall packs. Additionally, outdated heating units and boilers were replaced with energy-efficient models to reduce fuel consumption. The year-long project reduced electrical and fuel demand. Plans for 2026 include the installation of new air turnover units to optimize HVAC performance and efficiency.
